I appreciate the theme of this discussion. If we do not pay attention we can find ourselves filling in space and time with the idea that we are being productive, or worst yet, having social media fill in our space and time. One of your comments caught my attention:
"And I added a 30 min block in the morning, extra, to ensure that I don’t rush my morning so that I could read longer, write longer, and take time to master my latte making skills "
While you say you have added time so you are not rushed, your comment also seems like you have it structured within this time block. If not, then great I am overthinking this. If it is structured (now with more time), what if you had one of your mornings with absolutely no agenda. Similar to your digital detox, start this time with a blank slate, even be bored. Except of course, get that latte made first. Your thoughts?
Thank you Barry, I’m happy to hear that it resonated, as I never know when I open my heart and just start writing how people will receive it. And yes, my mornings are somewhat structured. I just do the things that I like to do, which are:
making coffee for Ivy
writing in my journal
reading
Some mornings I have meetings or podcasts scheduled at a certain time. If I want to read longer, I can't because I have to go to the gym and come back on time to meet the guests for the podcast recording. I just added extra time just in case I want to read more. I do add one of those mornings where I have no morning meetings, and that's on Thursdays. It's today, basically, for me, so I've had a really nice, slow morning today :)
