Good morning :)
I have a little announcement to make for those of you who read my stuff on Substack.
I started Substack as another way to reach more people with my weekly Mavy Wellness newsletter. Because we already send it via email every Saturday (outside of Substack).
But what I found over the past year as our company grew is that I couldn’t write from the same place that I had been writing years prior.
When I first started my newsletter I was sharing lessons from my life that I learned from the previous week and would tie it to body recomposition, fitness and mindset.
A lot of it was rooted in my personal experiences and a lot of it was tied to me as a person and coach.
But as our reach and brand grew, more people started to join Mavy Wellness being unaware of who I was, which is fantastic because we can now impact people outside of just who knows me online.
But what that brought on is people who would subscribe to our Mavy Wellness newsletter to learn about body recomposition, to learn about macros, how to exercise, etc… because that is what Mavy Wellness does. We are the top in the world at helping people over 50 improve their body composition on a whole food plant-based lifestyle.
But what they would receive every Saturday was an email about my lessons from the week, which for my long time readers they knew what it was all about, but for newcomers it’s not what they thought they were signing up for.
And I’ve had multiple people unsubscribe and email me saying they thought the weekly newsletter would be about something else, more fitness and plant-based nutrition oriented, and that made me reflect on the limitation of that and the loss of impact we could have with our Mavy Wellness message.
But I do like to write from the soul and share my experiences and lessons that I believe can be valuable to other people in the world, because as much as we are different we all have similar struggles and things we need to overcome to be able to live to our fullest potential.
So I decided to separate the two.
I will turn this Substack into my personal weekly lesson board to share my personal stories, lessons about life that come from building something like Mavy Wellness, but also write about mindset for change, the psychology of wanting to become the best version of yourself, of living life to the fullest and of wanting to have worldly impact. The ups and the downs of that journey. Kind of like a weekly personal journal.
And I will keep our current Mavy Wellness weekly newsletter sent via email about body recomposition on a whole food plant-based lifestyle. If you want to also receive those emails you can sign up for free here → https://mavywellness.com/newsletter
And if you want the personal newsletter, which I think I’ll call “Ma Vie,” which means “my life” in French and sounds the same as our Mavy brand, then subscribe to this newsletter by clicking the button below so you can get notified when I do send one out.
No hard feelings if you don’t. I just needed to have a space to express myself freely on a platform that wasn’t tied to the business my wife and I are building to help us reach our goal of serving and impacting 10,000 lives by 2033 and 1 million by 2050, to get healthier, fitter and reduce their risk of dealing with chronic illness on a plant-based lifestyle.
It’s my passion and what I’m dedicating my life to, because by 2050 I’ll be 57 by the time I reach that last deadline of 1 million lives impacted.
But I don’t want to stop writing from my soul and documenting this beautiful journey I am on, so I’ll be doing it on here.
Now as I start sharing these things, for all my overachievers out there like me.
I reflected a long time on doing this because I didn’t want it to be a “woman in the red dress” distraction or me losing focus from my main mission.
But I came to realize that writing was my creative output, just like some people like painting, drawing or playing music. To me it’s writing and reflecting on my life and the lessons I can pull out of it.
But I had to double and triple check with myself to ensure I wasn’t adding a distraction to my plate and for it to be more of a creative release.
As I’m writing this I’m laughing because you guys will get to see how it works in my head and it’s wild to say the least, ahah. I fully know you can’t be 100% sane and take on the challenge of serving 1 million lives and I’m ok with it. I’ve accepted that about myself.
So here is to a new chapter on Substack ❤️
Maxime

The one thing I love about this platform is that it provides the space to write from your core or your soul.
I agree with your assessment of separating the 2 versions of your newsletter
I look forward to reading about your experiences on this platform.
