At one time I had given up and said that menopause was just something that happened and I had no control. My blood labs were not good and had been very slowly getting worse over quite a few years. Then I saw a YouTube video on whole food plant based eating... Not sure if it was PCRM, Plantstrong, or an Esselstyn video, but I thought I'm going to give WFPB a try with the exception of one day a week where I allowed myself to eat the non vegan food options. I also reduced my nut and oil intake. "Magically" lol my weight started going down and in 2 months my blood labs were SO MUCH BETTER! If I hadn't taken control of my food choices, I would have always written it off as hereditary or because of menopause. After changing completely to WFPB there were more improvements and a continued slow weight loss. That started me thinking about being more fit. I bought Forever Fit and started some of the free YouTube home workouts by Maxime and Ivy (great starting point) and then a month later made the decision to join Mavy Wellness (formerly Fit Vegan). Best decision I made. I'm 13 weeks in and feel the strongest and healthiest that I've ever been (61 yrs old). Sorry for the long story but it just shows how my gradually taking control of my actions has helped me be the best I can be and I'm loving it. Maxime (and Ivy and the coaches 😁), you are always an inspiration. I'm now working on lessening my digital load now as part of my journey. 😉
Thank you so much for sharing your story, Kris. It's a pleasure to have you in our community and to get to serve you on your transformation journey. I'm excited to continue to see your progression and your transformation. I'm happy to hear that you're lessening your digital load. :)
I love this. Taking responsibility is actually freeing, even though we are scared it is going to trap us. It is the first step to change and growth. I always feel better when I acknowledge my mistake in a clear, concise fashion. My husband has taught me to add “and I am going to work on not making that mistake again”.
It absolutely is, and it's very confronting, and that's why a lot of people struggle to get to the place where they do take that responsibility. I love what you shared, and thank you very much for taking the time to read. :)
