I had a moment this past week where I was seriously doubting myself.
I felt anxious, scared as I’m working on building something new.
And this is me being really vulnerable as I normally don’t share things like this.
I’m working on building a course that encapsulates all the knowledge, tools and strategies I’ve used in my company to help over 1,200 people transform their body composition over 50 in the past six years. To make it more accessible to the world versus having to hire us for 1:1 coaching.
I’m building it as if I ever got another concussion like last year and forgot everything I knew, I could go back watch the modules and re-learn everything again.
And also to help me reach my goal of serving 10,000 people by 2033 get lean, thrive and reduce their risk of dealing with chronic illness and 1 million by 2050.
But building that course is really challenging me, I’m pouring my heart and soul into it and putting absolutely everything I have into it.
I’m about 50% of the way done and I find myself having doubtful thoughts such as…
What if people don’t like it? What if it sucks? What if it’s not valuable enough? What if it’s not enough to transform peoples health and body?
It’s feels like working on a painting for months and finally sharing it in an art gallery and everyone criticizing it. It hurts and it’s scary.
I don’t know if I’m the only one that feels like that when creating something.
After a few days of feeling like this, I had a call with my Tony Robbins coach and I wanted to work through the doubt and insecurity.
We had a long chat about it and he told me one thing that stayed with me (For context he’s been my coach for over five years). He laughed and said “Listen Maxime, you have a track record of 100% figuring shit out all the time, you’ll be fine. If you get feedback about something I know you’ll work on it and make it better. That’s how you started your first company, it wasn’t perfect at the start but you made it great over time.”
He also told me to remember everything I had gone through to get to this point and to not forget what “that guy” can do when he sets his mind to something.
And he started to list out some of the things I had done in my life and it all started to come back to me. I was so stuck in my own little bubble that I forget who the “Fudge” I was.
That really woke me up because looking back at all those things, it really changed my perspective about myself and who I truly was. I had simply forgotten.
So I decided to dedicate a wall in my office to put photos of all the things I’ve gone through and accomplished to get me here and I want to share a few with you:
1. You already know this one, but at the age of 22 my late partner got diagnosed with breast cancer and I was her caregiver 24/7 until she passed away when I was 27. This is a photo of where she was buried in her favorite place in Merida, Mexico.
I cycled from Victoria, BC, Canada all the way down to San Francisco in 22 days to raise money for cancer patients, living out of a tent and carrying everything with me. I actually documented the whole journey on my youtube channel by making a video every day of the trip: Youtube ❤️
3. I competed in a bodybuilder competition and trained for powerlifting. I was regimented and extremely disciplined for over 3 years to accomplish that.
4. Growing up in Aylmer, Quebec, I dreamed about the big fashion cities, Paris, Milan, places that felt completely out of reach for a small town kid. A few years into the industry, an agency in Milan flew me in for Fashion Week. I got to walk runways and be part of a campaign in a city I had only ever dreamed about.5. I competed in Ironman 70.3 and races and over 20 triathlons and was in the top 10% for my age group in the world at the time in Ironman 70.3
6. I hitchhiked for several years to see new places because I didn't have any money when I was younger and I didn't let that stop me. I traveled all over Quebec, Alberta, British-Columbia, New York state, etc…
7. I crossed Skydiving and bungee jumping off my bucket list
8. I got to meet my personal hero Tony Robbins at his private platinum partners event in Hawaii, do an intervention with him and take this photo which I've always wanted to meet since I was 15 years old when I first read Awaken the Giant Within.
9. This photo is one of the most important photos for me because it's at the end of the first month of starting my company over 6 years ago. I was $70,000 in debt, loaded credit cards, had lost my corporate job and the car that came with it, my girlfriend was dealing with breast cancer, I was overwhelmed with caregiving and all the money I was spending in cancer treatments. I had $34.37 in my bank account at the start of that month. I was broke, broken and looking for a way out. So I hired a mentor, started my business online and this photo is when I crossed the $10,000 in sales in my first 30 days. It was a life changing moments because I could finally pay for more cancer treatments and take care of my late partner. I'll always remember that moment.
10. Most importantly I got to marry my best friend and the woman of my dreams, Ivy ❤️ God blessed me with the most incredible and perfect partner and I'm eternally grateful for what she's done for me and for having her in my life ❤️
These are some of the top moments of my life that remind me who I am, what I’ve been through, what has shaped me in the man I am today and what I have accomplished so far.I also want to encourage you to do that for yourself, because it’s been a game changer for me and I feel that it might be for you too.
I’m not perfect, no one is perfect, we all have our down times, our moments where we doubt ourselves. Where we really want something but get frozen by how scary it is to go after what you want.
Find those photos/moments that remind you who the “fudge” you are and use them to your advantage.
I hope this serves at least one person, because it definitely really helped me on my journey.
Also yesterday was my birthday and I turned 33 years old, I’m grateful for the time I got to spend so far on this earth and I hope to have many more years ahead of me of continuous service to help people because the healthiest, fittest and best version of themselves ❤️
Have a good weekend everyone.
