Good morning,
I’m writing this from Boracay, Philippines.
If you’ve never been, let me try to paint it for you. White sand so fine it squeaks under your feet. Water so impossibly blue you think it’s been edited. The kind of place that makes you stop and think, how is this real?
I want to share something a little vulnerable with you today. Because I know I can’t be the only one.
Yesterday I had dinner at a local spot and made the mistake of ordering something that clearly did not agree with me. Woke up the next morning feeling bloated, uncomfortable, just off. You know that feeling. Stomach distended, nothing fits quite right, that heavy feeling that has nothing to do with the number on a scale.
That next day post meal, Ivy and I had planned to go to the beach to get some sun and relax
And there I was. One of the most stunning beaches on the planet. That ridiculous Boracay blue stretching out in front of me. And instead of being there, I was somewhere entirely else.
I was thinking about how I felt in my bathing suit. Pulling at it mentally. Hyper-aware of my stomach. Wondering if people noticed. Running through what I’d eaten the night before, what I should have ordered instead (It’s challenging to find good plant-based options out here), whether I’d feel better tomorrow. A full loop of self-conscious noise playing on repeat while paradise sat right in front of me, completely untouched.
Ten minutes in, I “woke up”.
I suddenly became aware of where I actually was. The sound of the waves. The warmth on my skin. The color of that water. The fact that I was sitting on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and I was missing it.
I had been laying there in the sun for ten minutes. And I was only just truly arriving and taking in all of it’s beauty.
That stopped me cold.
So here’s the thing I realized in that moment, and why I’m sharing it with you.
The beach was there the whole time. The beauty didn’t change. The water didn’t change. The only thing standing between me and that moment was the noise in my head about my own body.
And I thought: I only felt this way because of one bad meal the night before. This is temporary for me. I know how to get back.
But what if this was your permanent state?
What if every beach, every family dinner, every vacation photo, every morning getting dressed, every time you caught your reflection, that voice was just... there? Running in the background of your life like a tab you can never close?
That’s not a fitness problem. That’s a presence problem. And it’s one of the quietest, most underrated ways that an unhealthy relationship with your body steals from your life.
Not dramatically. Not all at once. Just ten minutes at a time, on every beautiful beach you’ll ever visit.
I’ve worked with thousands of people over the years and when I ask them what really changed after their transformation, they almost never say “I lost weight.” They say things like:
“I can actually enjoy my life now.”
“I got in the water instead of watching from the shore.”
“I stopped hiding behind the camera.”
“I did the hike. I kept up. I felt like myself again.”
That’s what we’re actually building. Not just a leaner, stronger body. The freedom to be fully present in your own life. To show up for the moments that matter without the noise. To stand on a beautiful beach and actually enjoy it.
I share this not because I have it all figured out. Far from it. But because even for me, someone who eats well and trains consistently, one bad meal was enough to pull me out of paradise for ten minutes.
Imagine what years of accumulated disconnect from your body can do to your presence. To your joy. To the moments you’ll never get back.
If you’re tired of living in your head while your life happens around you, our team is here.
Not to put you on a crash diet or give you a 30-day quick fix. But to help you transform properly, once and for all, in a way that gives you your presence back. Your confidence back. Your deep enjoyment of life back.
That’s what we do at Mavy Wellness.
If you’re ready, just click “Get Coaching” on our website to get more information and someone from our team will be happy to have a real conversation about where you are and where you want to be.
No pressure. No pitch. Just a conversation.
Because you deserve to be on the beach. Fully on the beach. Or whatever that may look like for you and your best life.
With love from Boracay,
Maxime
